Analysis of Protective Legisilation in Ontario for First Nation Languages

 
 
What is an appropriate language protection policy depends on the individual language community and the stage of language shift. Our research indicates however, that there are common elements across the jurisdictions discussed in our paper, that contribute towards the successful protection of Indigenous languages. Although a national strategy is appropriate for some of these elements, others will be regionally based and require the cooperation of provincial governments.
