(Toronto, November 10, 2017) On behalf of the Chiefs of Ontario, I congratulate the family of the late Gaylord Powless upon his induction yesterday into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. Powless was arguably the best lacrosse player in the world when he played from the 1960s to 1980s. At the age of 17, he won the Tom Longboat Award as the best First Nation athlete in Canada. Powless also led numerous teams to amateur and professional championships during his career.

(TORONTO, November 10, 2017) On Saturday, November 11th, Regional Chief Isadore Day will lay a wreath at Queen’s Park in memory of all First Nation veterans who fought in the World Wars, and in numerous other conflicts from Korea to Afghanistan.

(Toronto, November 2, 2017) On this National Day of Action on First Nation Child Welfare, the Chiefs of Ontario are moving forward with engaging both Canada and Ontario on urgent issues – from immediate relief funding to First Nation control and jurisdiction -- after holding our Special Chiefs Assembly on Child Welfare in Ottawa less than two weeks ago.
