(Toronto, November 23, 2017) I applaud today’s introduction of the Indigenous Institutes Act, which will establish a third pillar of provincial post-secondary education, owned, controlled and governed by a First Nation council. This will create a distinct pathway towards earning a diploma, certificate or degree that reflects Indigenous knowledge, cultures and languages.   

(TORONTO August 29, 2017) “As we mark World Water Week, Canadians must be reminded that far too many First Nation communities in Ontario, and across the country, do not have access to clean drinking water ,” said Ontario Regional Chief Isadore Day.  “While the federal Liberal government pledged to end all Boil Water Advisories (BWAs) within five years, not enough progress has been made to date.”

We hope you will read this as a moment to educate yourself, a moment to reflect on your current ideas about Indigenous peoples in Canada, and a moment to reflect on your present relationships to Indigenous peoples.
