We hope you will read this as a moment to educate yourself, a moment to reflect on your current ideas about Indigenous peoples in Canada, and a moment to reflect on your present relationships to Indigenous peoples.

(Toronto, June 29, 2017)  “On July 1st, 2017, Canadians will be gathering across the country to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation, the formation of both Canada and the Province of Ontario. This call for celebration presents First Nations with a poignant moment.

(Toronto, June 23, 2017) “Today’s announcement that the federal government will seek clarity from the Federal Court on two specific aspects of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal rulings creates further delays and continues to imperil the lives of First Nations children across Canada.

Last month, the CHRT again ruled that Canada has yet to comply with previous orders to implement Jordan’s Principle, which is a child-first principle that every First Nation child should have access to the same government services as all Canadian children.
