Toronto, ON — After three of rounds of voting, Shawn A-in-chut Atleo of Ahousaht First Nation has been re-elected National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.

This will be Shawn Atleo’s second term as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations. Previously, National Chief Atleo served two terms as Regional Chief in British Columbia from 2003 to 2009 and has also worked as facilitator, trainer and entrepreneur for First Nation peoples.

Toronto, ON — Grand Chief Stan Beardy of Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) was elected as Ontario Regional Chief through a traditional stand up election ceremony at the 38th All Ontario Chiefs Conference.

The newly elected Regional Chief promised to work closely with all Chiefs on the priority issues affecting First Nations in Ontario.

“Our Peoples and our communities continue to face significant challenges and we need to ensure that our future generations emerge healthier and stronger,” said incoming Regional Chief Stan Beardy.

Toronto, ON – On the first day of the Anishinabek Nation’s annual general assembly, Patrick Madahbee accepted acclamation to serve as its Grand Chief for a second consecutive term. He will be advocating for the 39 First Nations that make up the Anishinabek Nation’s membership as they continue to assert their inherent and Treaty rights.
