RE: April 17-19 Special Chiefs Assembly – AMENDED AGENDA DUE TO WEATHER

(April 16, 2018) As of this morning we have 67 registered delegates – which means we have a very solid base of Chiefs/Proxies attending this Special Chiefs Assembly. We must ensure that we proceed. At the same time, there are delayed flights and dangerous driving conditions. We want everyone to arrive safely.

We will amend the agenda – INFO Sessions Tuesday evening – Agenda starts on Wednesday April 18-2018. Registration will open up at 1pm on April 17, 2017 at the Hilton Double Tree.

The Agenda will be adjusted to ensure that we are accommodating late arrivals tomorrow; the SCA Assembly Hall will be open for a supper and a Tuesday evening information session, and an Elders Discussion.

Adjustments are being made to this agenda so that we are able to complete the targeted tasks on time. Wednesday and Thursday will be assembly dialogue and direction for the four main topics:

Tuesday April 17:

·       Travel/Arrival of Chiefs/Proxies

·       Evening Supper / Elders Dialogue – 5pm-9pm

·       NOTE: The assembly hall will be open in the afternoon for Chiefs and delegates / Registration @1pm

Wednesday April 18:

·       Grand Entry – Official Opening of SCA

·       Chiefs of Ontario Restructuring

·       Ontario Policy Landscape

Thursday April 19:

·       Ontario Region DISC – Fair Share and Funding Issues

·       Federal Policy and Legislative Agenda

Resolutions: will be dealt with at the end of each item or at the end of each day, based on the discretion of the Chiefs/Proxies.

Your dedication and efforts are appreciated and important as we work to ensure that Chiefs and their First Nations are provided updates and current information regarding the key policy issues affecting your communities.
