The North American Indigenous Peoples' Caucus is an international Indigenous Peoples' preparatory meeting for the 11th Session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. This prep meeting was a three-day in depth working session held March 9-11, 2012 and was designed by and for tribal nation/First Nations' leadership, community members, elders, youth, and organizations.

This was an important development, since these types of meetings do not happen often and when the relationship between First Nations and the federal government is neglected, it serves to perpetuate the circumstances that lead to crisis situations for many First Nations communities.

As election activity mounts, the Chiefs of Ontario will work towards an education, advocacy and election readiness exercise and media strategy to ensure that information is available in a central and accessible manner and opportunities to assess and engage candidates are created.
